Guaranteed Portraits
I guarantee I'll provide you with a beautiful portrait, even if you're someone who "breaks the camera."

Portraiture is Scary
Portraiture to some people is a scary thing. They’re very worried about the way they look, and how their portrait will be perceived by others. They have a vision inside them of how they want to be viewed, but somehow they never see this vision realized in any portrait, because, frankly, they never go to a true artist to have a portrait done. Then they lose confidence in their own ability to be represented as they want to be viewed, and they may even go through their entire life without a good portrait on which others can base their memories. They say things like, “I don’t take a good picture,” or “I break the camera.”

Trust me, there is beauty in everyone, and it’s possible to translate that beauty into an image. There’s an inner beauty that comes from each individual, and it’s my challenge to find that inner beauty and bring it out into a fabulous portrait. If you want to be perceived as strong, then that’s what we’ll go for in the portrait. If you want to be perceived as beautiful or mysterious, powerful or intelligent, or even whimsical, then those things are all goals for a portrait. And even for children there are individual qualities that can be embodied in the image, showing the child’s playfulness or tranquility, athleticism or grace, or just their silliness and carefree spirit.

Can these qualities be captured by a photographer who spends fifteen minutes with you? No. It takes time and preparation, and discussion about who you are and how you feel about yourself. That's why my portraits are different: I spend the time that it takes to make the portrait great.

Physical Issues
Ok, you may say, but what about people who have physical issues that interfere with their ability to be perceived well by others. People who are "overweight" or "underweight" or whose faces are scarred? People who have been through traumatic events or the ravages of disease which have caused damage to their bodies?

My feeling is that everyone has an inner beauty, that everyone is unique, and that I can still bring out that inner beauty despite physical issues. Tell me what you want the portrait to look like, and we can use lighting or retouching to minimize physical issues and instead draw attention to the important aspects of a person.

Guaranteed Portraits
I feel strongly enough about my ability to cope with any obstacle that I will guarantee my portraits. If you're not happy with the result for any reason, then I'll take back any prints and refund your money. There is no risk on your part. And, frankly, there isn't much risk on my part either, because I've never had anyone request a refund.
