Wedding Photography Pricing

Great wedding photographs and a dazzling album at a surprisingly low price, plus inexpensive prints and free photo downloads.

Now you can save money without compromising on quality!

A key part of planning a wedding is deciding where to save and where to go all out. You want great wedding photographs and a dazzling album, but you might prefer to spend more money on other aspects of the wedding. I recognize the problem, and I make it easy on you by providing great photographs and a wonderful album at a very reasonable price. Not only that, but I do two things no other wedding photographer does: I let you download photos for free, and I let you order prints at the low prices you might expect from a drugstore! Now your aunts and uncles and cousins and friends can afford to order as many wedding pictures as they like.

I don't offer packages – everything is à la carte – but here's the TOTAL COST of wedding photography for a few typical wedding situations. Pick a row based on the wedding size, then go across to the column that reflects your interest in an album and/or DVD. The number in that column is the total price of wedding photography. So, for example, if you have a small wedding, and you want both a 40-page album and a DVD of images, your total price is $1549. And if you have a small wedding and you don't want an album or a DVD, then the total price is $800.

Coverage from One Photographer for: No Album or DVD Full-size images on DVD 40-Page Album Both 40-Page Album and DVD
Small Wedding (up to 4 hours, plus see qualifiers below) $800 $999 $1299 $1549
Large Wedding (up to 8 hours) $1600 $1799 $2099 $2349
Huge Wedding (up to 12 hours) $2400 $2599 $2899 $3149
Note: these prices assume you pay in full one month prior to the wedding, and that a portion of the 10% prepayment credit is applied toward the price. For more about the prepayment credit, see the bottom of the page.

Here are the descriptions of the three types of weddings:

  • Small Wedding
Up to four hours of photographic coverage. For some weddings, 4 hours is enough, especially if you have a short ceremony with a small reception and no meal served, and if the ceremony and the reception are in the same building. With 4 hours of coverage, I typically start 2 hours before the ceremony to capture "getting ready" images and some photos of the bride, bridesmaids, groom and groomsmen. Then the ceremony lasts about 1/2 hour, we do group photographs for another 1/2 hour, and I take photographs for about an hour at the reception. If 4 hours seems tight, then you can add more hours of coverage for $200 per additional hour (or add $300 per additional hour if you want two photographers).

  • Large Wedding
Up to eight hours of photographic coverage. Eight hours allows enough time for extra coverage before and after the wedding, even if a meal is served at the reception, and even if the reception is held in another close-by location. With 8 hours of coverage, I typically start 3 hours before the ceremony to capture "getting ready" images and lots of photos of the bride, bridesmaids, groom and groomsmen, including individual portraits of each bridesmaid and any fun shots that you'd like (e.g., bride and bridesmaids jumping for joy, groomsmen in a sports pose, whatever suits your personality and style). Then the ceremony lasts about 1/2 hour, we do group photographs for another 1/2 hour, and I take photographs for about 4 hours at the reception, usually including some time for me to sneak off with the bride and groom to take a few romantic portraits (in the evening sometimes we can use a sunset as a background)

  • Huge Wedding
Up to twelve hours of photographic coverage. With 12 hours of coverage you'll get lots of additional photographs before the ceremony and during the reception (see the 8-hour description above and add 4 hours for more "getting ready images" and more images of extended celebration)

With every one of my weddings, you can:

  • Get 100 - 200 images per hour of the highest-quality photography (200 - 300 images per hour if two photographers are used). That's between 400 and 800 images for 4 hours of wedding coverage from a single photographer, and between 2,400 and 3,600 images for 12 hours of wedding coverage from two photographers.

  • Be assured that all of the important moments in your wedding will be captured. I'll even come to your wedding rehearsal at no additional charge to pick the best camera angles, so that I can provide you with the best possible photos.

  • View and download all your wedding photos on the Internet a week after the wedding (not months later like some photographers), then get unlimited Internet viewing of your wedding photos for a year after the wedding. There's no extra charge for downloading small versions of all your photos.

  • Order albums or DVDs later if you don't want them at the time of the wedding (this allows you to get the best possible photography while postponing some of the cost). The price for these items is guaranteed until three months after the wedding. After three months, you can order at the current price. All of your digital images are kept in a bank security vault until they're needed.

  • Order as many prints as you like over the Internet at very inexpensive, almost drugstore-like prices. For example, get 4x6 prints for just 30 cents each, 5x7 prints for $1.75 each, and 8x10 prints for just $4.50 each

  • Add optional extras like:

Maybe none of these descriptions fit your wedding plans. Maybe you want more than this, or less than this. Maybe you want more album pages, or fewer album pages, or maybe you don't care about an album but you'd like to have a DVD of the JPG images from the wedding.

Take a look below at the prices of the various products and services that I offer. Or if you want me to give you a price quote for your specific situation, just give me a call and describe your dream wedding.

Why is my pricing so low? Click here to find out.

With me as your photographer, you are dealing directly with the person who is going to take the photographs and design the album. I do all of this work myself to ensure that you get the highest possible quality, and that you get it quickly. I tailor my approach to your wishes to make sure that you get exactly what you're looking for.

If you want detailed pricing, then keep reading. If you don't like detail, then just give me a call and I'll answer all your questions..

To confirm my availability on your wedding date, and to schedule a free consultation at a convenient location (typically your home or the location where the wedding will be held), call me at (770) 331-6979 or send me an email at info@casualportraits.com. I'm always at your service.

Detailed Pricing

Photography Taking the pictures. A combination of posed and photojournalistic images. Typically 100-200 photos per photographer per hour of coverage, depending on your preferences.

I'll be your primary photographer, but if you want to have two photographers covering your wedding, then I would be happy to bring along a second photographer to provide a different camera angle and an alternate point of view.

For one photographer:

$800 for up to 4 hours,
$1,000 for up to 5 hours,
$1,200 for up to 6 hours,
$1,600 for up to 8 hours, or $2,400 for up to 12 hours

Second photographer for an additional $100 per hour (4 hour minimum).

Attending the Wedding Rehearsal I attend the wedding rehearsal so that I can get a better understanding of your particular wedding. That helps me plan for your important event and pick the best camera angles. The wedding rehearsal also gives me a chance to meet your wedding coordinator (if you have one), and to discuss the sequence of events at the wedding. No additional charge
Custom Created Book Quality Album I'll personally create each album page in PhotoShop using one or more images. Then each page is professionally printed using 4-color ink, and the pages are bound. The result is like an art book or coffee-table book. To learn more about my albums and see samples, click here.

A page is like a page in any book – one side – so when you look at an open book you see two pages: left and right. You'll notice that some large images span two facing pages.

The minimum number of pages in an album is 20, but at these prices you can afford to get as many pages as you like. Here are some examples:

Pages Large Album Small Album Extra Large Album
20 $60 $30 $100
30 $90 $45 $150
40 $120 $60 $200
50 $150 $75 $250
60 $180 $90 $300
70 $210 $105 $350
80 $240 $120 $400
90 $270 $135 $450
100 $300 $150 $500

see more detailed album information here
$500 one-time charge for album design, no matter how many pages the album takes, and no matter how many albums you buy.

Then you can order as many copies of the album as you want in three different sizes:

  • Large 11.25" x 8.75" hardcover album for $3 per page. 22.5" wide when opened.

  • Smaller 7.75" x 5.75" paperback album for $1.50 per page. This size is perfect for parents or for carrying around in your purse or briefcase. 15.5" wide when opened.

  • Extra large 15" x 11.5" hardcover album for $5 per page. 30" wide when opened.
Internet access to photos All photos will be available one week after the wedding for viewing, ordering and downloading over the Internet, with a URL that's yours and yours alone, so it's easy for you to share with friends via email. If you like, photos can be password protected to prevent viewing by unauthorized people. No additional charge for making your photos available on the Internet for viewing, ordering and downloading by family and friends for one year after the wedding. Downloaded images are at least 1200x800 pixels and great for small prints, emailing or computer wallpaper. If you want to print your own images bigger than 4x6 inches, get a DVD of the full-size images.
Prints Order them yourself over the Internet for fast delivery directly to your home. At these low prices, order lots of extras for friends.

Available in glossy, matte or lustre finish.

4x6 - 30¢ (yes, that's 30 cents) per print (34¢ for lustre)
5x7 - $1.75 ($2.00 for lustre)
8x10 - $4.50 ($5.00 for lustre)
8x12 - $5.50 ($6.25 for lustre)
10x15 - $7.00 ($8.00 for lustre)
11x14 - $7.50 ($8.50 for lustre)
Wallets - $1.25 for 4 ($1.50 for lustre)
Lustre prints offer the best of both worlds: the color saturation of glossy, and the fingerprint resistance of matte, without the glare associated with glossy. Lustre has a satin-like sheen and a modestly textured surface, which you can see when the light angle is just right.
Proofs View proof images over the Internet, or order proof prints in whatever size you want. Internet proofs are included at no additional charge. Proof prints can be ordered over the Internet at the regular Internet print prices (see above).
Copies of JPG Photo Files for Your Own Use Get JPG images of your wedding photos so you can make your own prints and screensavers, email them to friends, .... whatever you want. Smaller images can be downloaded free for prints up to 4x6". Full-size images are available on DVD. 1200x800 pixel images can be downloaded directly over the Internet at no additional charge.

For $250, get a DVD of all of your images at full size. Get extra copies of the DVD for just $50 each when ordered at the same time.

Color, Black & White, or Sepia Photos are taken in color, but just let me know and I'll convert images to black & white or sepia. No additional charge
Retouching Retouching is available if you want it. I can open up eyes that were closed during a photo, remove blemishes, take off braces, or even make you slimmer. There's a single price for each image you want retouched, no matter how many prints you order from that image. Prices start at $10 and vary based on the amount of effort required. Call me to get an estimate.
DVD Video of the Wedding Photos A digital video of your wedding pictures set to music, with slide motion effects like the Ken Burns PBS TV shows. The DVD works in all recent DVD players, as well as on a PC. Makes a wonderful gift for bridesmaids and groomsmen. Price to create the digital video: $300.

Then order as many DVDs as you like, each in a custom case for $25 when ordered with the video, or $50 each when ordered later.

"Storyboard" Photo A digital collage of multiple images. It looks like someone laid prints out on a table, and then made a photograph of the table top (see example). It makes a wonderful large photographic display of the wedding events, almost like an album you can frame. Price to create the storyboard is $100 + $2 for each image in the collage.

Then order as many prints of the completed storyboard as you like, at regular print prices.

Bridal/Couple Portraits Photos taken in your home or at your choice of local Atlanta location - inside or outside. Electronic files for newspaper announcements can be emailed.

Click here for samples of some of the kinds of portraits I do.

"Quick Portrait" subject to certain terms and conditions. See the Quick Portrait description for more information.

$200 per photo session at a single location of your choice (this is a special price for wedding customers), or as low as $99 for my "Quick Portrait." Multiple portraits can be taken in one session. For example,
  • Separately and together
  • Multiple clothing changes
  • Multiple poses

Electronic files for newspapers are free. Prints are available at normal print prices. Retouching is extra.

Hint: If you want to save money, just put this together yourself using a photo you already have, then switch the photo for one from the wedding after the wedding photos are available.

8x10 print in a 16x20 frame - $100
11x14 print in a 20x24 frame - $150

Requires photo session listed above

20x24 - $420
24x30 - $635
30x40 - $760 (this size is perfect for over the fireplace)
Mugs, T-Shirts, Mouse Pads, Buttons, Refrigerator Magnets, Playing Cards, etc. Get some of these items with your selected photos printed on them. Order the items yourself over the Internet just like you order prints

15 oz white mug - $13
T-shirt - $20
Mousepad - $10
4" button - $7
Small refrigerator magnet - $6
Playing cards - $27
Rehearsal Dinner Video Like the DVD Wedding Video, but instead of being a video of wedding photos, it's a video that recaps the lives of the bride and groom. This video is typically shown with a projector at the rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding. It's put together from photos and videos provided by the bride and groom and their friends and family.

Click here for more information as well as sample excerpts from a rehearsal dinner video.

Price to create the Rehearsal Dinner Video varies, but you can generally expect to pay between $500 and $1,000 for the typical video (this price is higher than the wedding video because of the additional work required in dealing with old photographs that come from multiple sources). Three copies of the DVD are included in the price, and additional copies of the DVD are available for $10 each when ordered with the video, or $25 each when ordered later.

If you want me to show the video myself at your event, then the price is typically between $300 and $500 depending on the venue and the size of the audience. This includes my time, as well as the use of a projector, screen and audio equipment that I'll provide.

Bonus for Pre-Payment If you commit to spend a certain total amount and you prepay that amount, then I'll give you a 10% credit over and above that amount. For example, if you commit to spend $800, then I'll give you an extra $80 in credit that you can use toward any items in this price list except items ordered over the Internet. Or if you commit to spend $2,000, then I'll give you an extra $200 in credit.

Of course, you can always decide later that you want to spend more (for example, for albums or DVDs that you didn't initially choose), but you don't get the 10% credit for the amount you spend above the committed amount.

A check for $500 is due in advance as a non-refundable retainer to reserve the wedding date.

I must receive your check for the balance of the committed amount at least one month before the wedding.

Payment for any additional items above the committed amount is due when the items are ordered.

Note: The bonus amount can't be used for prints or other items ordered over the Internet, and the bonus amount must be used within 3 months after the wedding date. Some of the prices for "wedding situations" listed at the top of this page take the 10% credit into account.

Terms and Conditions Terms and conditions in the "Casual Portraits, Inc. Agreement for Photographic Services" will apply. Items are subject to Georgia sales tax, and a small shipping and handling charge may apply to each individual order.

Questions

If you have any questions, or if you want something that isn't listed, give me a call at (770) 331-6979 to discuss it.

Note: all prices are subject to change, but once you pay a retainer, your price is locked in until 3 months after the wedding date. Prices are for weddings in the metro Atlanta area; for other locations, a travel charge may apply. Call me for details.

Why is my pricing so low?

There are four reasons:

  1. I've been a guest at too many weddings where it costs too much for a wedding guest to buy a few photos taken by the wedding photographer. I promised myself that I would make small prints affordable for the average wedding guest, and my pricing reflects that promise.

  2. Most wedding photographers use extremely expensive products and services, and they pass the cost along to you. They get web hosting from an expensive company, they buy "special" $200 - $500 albums, and they include lots of unnecessary retouching work for each image.

I've discovered that there are less expensive products and services available, and their quality is just as good as the higher-priced alternatives. So I take advantage of carefully chosen, high-quality, lower-cost vendors, and I pass the savings on to you.

And by the way, when I'm talking about using less expensive products and services, I'm not talking about the cameras and lighting equipment I use. This is an area where I refuse to skimp because I'm so focused on image quality. I use the absolute top-of-the-line cameras, lenses and lighting equipment to give you the best possible images.

  3. I don't advertise in bridal magazines, and I don't participate in bridal fairs. You would be surprised how much it costs to do so, and the photographers who do that kind of advertising have to pass those costs along to you. For my business I rely on word-of-mouth (if you like what I have to offer, then please tell your friends) and on a limited amount of Internet advertising.

  4. I generally work without an assistant. This keeps my costs down, and I pass the savings on to you.

To confirm my availability on your wedding date, and to arrange a free consultation at a convenient location (typically your home, the location where the wedding will be held, or another location convenient to both of us), call me at (770) 331-6979 or send me an email at info@casualportraits.com. I'll bring album samples and show you how you can get great wedding photography for an affordable price.
